















After the great plague of 1898, two residential areas were created away from the city center. One of them is Malleswaram, which derives its name after the 17th-century Kadu Malleshwara Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Two lanes have become famous because of the trees grown Sampige and Margosa. The circle Maramma temple which came around 1970 at the junction of Sankey road and Margosa road is dedicated to village god. Later additions were Gangamma and Lakshmi Narasimha temple and the latest are Dakshina Nandi thirtha and Saibaba temples.
